Mueller Has 'Not Yet' Decided to Investigate Trump

Trump's tweet was posted more than a day after a Washington Post story reported that "Five people briefed on the interview requests, speaking on the condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss the matter publicly", confirmed that Special Counsel Robert Mueller, appointed to look into allegations that members of the Trump administration colluded with Russian Federation to interfere with the election, was investigating whether or not Trump had sought to obstruct justice.

Trump himself used Twitter Friday to at Rosenstein, saying he was "being investigated" for firing former FBI Director James Comey "by the man who told me to fire the FBI director", seemingly referencing Rosenstein.

His attorney Jay Sekulow took to the Sunday shows this weekend to insist otherwise: no, the president isn't under investigation because the Justice Department has not told him that he is.

Trump has lashed out against the Russian Federation probe on Twitter and his allies have called for the ouster of special counsel Robert Mueller and questioned his impartiality.

Mueller is also looking at whether, if any potential offenses were committed, Trump or others attempted to cover them up or obstruct the investigation into them, said one USA official on Thursday who is familiar with the rough outlines of the probe and who spoke on condition of anonymity.

He maintained that the president is not being investigated for obstruction of justice in an exchange with host Chris Wallace because they have not received a notice of investigation.

He said, however, that Sekulow's comments could mean the White House was taking the position that no investigation exists until Mueller's team officially confirms it, disregarding media reports based on anonymous sourcing. The source said investigators have sought information from Richard Ledgett, who recently retired as deputy NSA director and, the source said, had written a memo documenting an attempt from Trump urging Rogers to tamp down on the FBI's Russian Federation investigation. "Witch Hunt!" Trump tweeted.

"I don't have any reason to doubt the credibility of Bob Mueller to conduct this [investigation]", Rubio said. Claims also arose that Trump asked the director of the National Security Agency to declare that he was not under investigation and asked the Director of National Intelligence to tell Comey to back off the Flynn investigation.

"I can say categorically that the collusion, the cooperation aspect of the investigation is not over".

"He, from every pronouncement we have seen, feels very strongly that he did nothing wrong, and he wants people to say that, because he feels very strongly about it".

Senator Marco Rubio, who lost the Republican primary election to Trump, called for a "full and credible investigation". King and Rubio are both members of the Senate Intelligence Committee, which is running an investigation that partially parallels the Justice Department probe being run by Mueller. Angus King, an independent from ME, stressed that the probe will likely last for a long time.

"It's inconceivable he's not under investigation in the obstruction investigation", the lawyer said. He added: "A lot of people have said, 'When do you think you'll be done?' Maybe the end of the year. There's a lot of information yet to go". "Witch Hunt", had nothing to do with any official investigation into President Trump's activities.
