Pres. Trump acknowledges he's being investigated for firing FBI Director James Comey

"Morning Joe" host Joe Scarborough thinks White House chief strategist Steve Bannon and chief of staff Reince Preibus are driving some of the leaks that are damaging Trump adviser and son-in-law Jared Kushner.

Comey painted a picture of an overbearing President he did not trust and who pressured him to stop the Federal Bureau of Investigation probe of Flynn.

The Trump administration initially said Mr Rosenstein's letter was the reason the President fired Mr Comey on May 9, but Mr Trump later said he did so because of the "Russia thing".

The president tweeted Friday, "After 7 months of investigations & committee hearings about my 'collusion with the Russians, ' nobody has been able to show any proof". But Rosenstein, too, may ultimately have to hand off oversight of the probe given his own role in Comey's firing.

Some of his ire is aimed at Rosenstein and investigative special counsel Robert Mueller, both of whom the president believes are biased against him, associates say.

Trump advisers and confidants describe the president as increasingly angry over the investigation, yelling at television sets in the White House carrying coverage and insisting he is the target of a conspiracy to discredit - and potentially end - his presidency.

Mr Comey told a Senate panel last week he believed Mr Trump fired him to undermine the FBI's Russian Federation probe and testified that the President directed him in February to drop an investigation into former national security adviser Michael Flynn in relation to the Russian Federation matter.

Special counsel Robert Mueller should be given a chance in the Russian Federation investigation but it's likely he won't find anything, Secretary of Housing and Urban Development Ben Carson said Friday.

Reports have alleged that Trump asked both men to publicly quash the credibility of the Russian Federation investigation.

Mueller was named by Rosenstein on May 17 to lead the Russian Federation investigation as a special counsel, a position created to conduct investigations when a normal Justice Department probe would present a conflict of interest.

The move was confirmed by a transition official who spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss post-election decisions.

Coats met behind closed doors for more than three hours Thursday with the Senate intelligence committee, which is conducting a separate investigation into Russian interference in the election.

WASHINGTON - President Donald Trump's Washington hotel saw nearly $20 million in revenue during its first few months of operation - a period that coincided with his election and inauguration as the 45th president.

Mark Corallo, a spokesman for Trump's legal team, denounced the Post report, saying on Wednesday: "The FBI leak of information regarding the president is outrageous, inexcusable and illegal".

The Twitter attacks came as Vice President Mike Pence hired a personal lawyer to represent him in the intensifying investigation.

"It's not a witch hunt", Thune told MSNBC in an interview on Thursday.

The president tweeted Friday, "Despite the phony Witch Hunt going on in America, the economic & jobs numbers are great. I can go around them".
