FCA Announces Dealer-Allocation Plan for '18 Demon

FCA Announces Dealer-Allocation Plan for '18 Demon

With many new performance cars, you'll have to pay a premium if you want to get the jump on the waiting list. Dodge has a plan for that (see below). The plan is genius, as you'll read below.

Dealers can start placing orders for the Demon on June 21.

Contracted orders with added mark-up will be the last ones built, and have the highest serial numbers.

The Demon even comes with a factory safety warning, which makes it sound even more exciting.

When Dodge put the Challenger and Charger Hellcat on sale, it was a bit of a mess between allocating stock to dealers, who routinely overpromised and marked cars up way beyond MSRP.

"The 2018 Dodge Challenger Demon represents the best of what Dodge//SRT stands for - performance capabilities that are second to none, iconic styling and a heritage built on pushing the boundaries of what is possible at a price that is attainable", Tim Kuniskis, FCA passenger auto brands head, said in the release. Demons sold above sticker will be produced only after the "priority production" is completed.

It's not going to go through that again when ordering opens up Wednesday for the 840-hp Challenger SRT Demon.

We knew two things about Dodge's 2018 Challenger SRT Demon: first, that with 840HP it would be crazy-powerful, and second, it would be in hot demand.

But with only 3,300 being built, Dodge understands most people interested in the Demon won't be able to purchase one. We guess the take rate on this option will be near 100 percent!

Dodge on Tuesday revealed the allocation process for its 2018 Challenger SRT Demon which is due this fall and limited to just 3,300 examples in total.

A new concierge hotline (800-998-1110) and website was created. The document will help determine when the automaker builds the vehicle based on a "customer-facing contract price", FCA added. The document must be received by the Demon Concierge before the vehicle will be slated for production. These SRT Demons will head to US dealerships starting this fall, and dealers can begin placing orders on Wednesday, June 21. For FCA to greenlight the production on any individual auto at the outset, it must qualify as a "verified sold order", complete with a document signed by the dealer, the customer and a notary.
