Gym Systems To Get Major Revamp, Battle Raids And New Items

Since the incredibly-successful mobile game now contains the first two generations of Pokemon, we could see the likes of Lugia and Ho-Oh joining Mew, Mewtwo, and the legendary bird trio appearing in the new gym update.

Following the complete shutdown of Gyms within Niantic's augmented reality video game, "Pokémon Go", the developer has now published the official patch notes for the big update fans have been waiting for.

Each gym will now hold up to six Pokemon, with all six slots opening as soon as a gym is conquered and also each gym now has a badge you can earn and level up from Vanilla to Bronze to Silver and then finally Gold.

A year on from its release, Pokemon Go is still going strong, with occasional events - like the current one timed to celebrate the summer solstice - keeping its core of about five million players glued to their smartphones.

Added search functionality to Pokemon collection screen. According to Niantic, the gym updates launched for select players yesterday. The full update shows off a lot of soon-to-be content that Niantic is planning on shoveling into the game, along with them, it's been noted that the first legendary Pokemon has made an appearance in the source code, being none other than Lugia.

Added in-app and push notification system for Gyms. It is bringing the gyms back online and is also rolling out raids.

Also located at gyms will be raid battles, which take place against a very powerful Pokemon that will appear over the gym independent of any team.

Previously Niantic had been employing a "prestige" system that determined how many Pokemons can be in a gym at once with a maximum limit of ten.

The update on Pokemon GO is introducing a new health stat, "motivation". They said that players can only assign one Pokemon, in their, example Blissey, to one gym. As it levels up, you'll get more benefits from visiting the gym. Once that's done, Raids will roll out to a select group of people in beta form with the number ramping up over the next few weeks. In this new type of battle, Trainers can join forces to take down a powerful Raid Boss and gain rare items.
