Southern California liquor store gets payout for selling winning $448M Powerball ticket

A winning ticket for last night's $447.8 million Powerball grand prize was sold in California, according to the lottery.

Saturday night's jackpot was the 10th largest lottery prize in US history.

The winnig numbers, AP said, are 20-26-32-38-58, and the Powerball number is 3.

The owner of a Southern California liquor store says he doesn't know who bought the winning $447.8 million Powerball ticket.

Powerball's jackpot hit a record US$1.6 billion in January 2016, when three winning tickets were sold in Florida, California and Tennessee.

The victor could take 29-year payout or a one-time, before-tax lump sum of $279.1 million. The one victor defied the slim odds: one in 292.2 million.

Alberre's father, who co-owns the store, suffers from pulmonary fibrosis. The victor, who has yet to be identified, can claim a jackpot worth $447.8 million.

Delawareans' hoping to cash in on the latest mega Powerball jackpot were disappointed. California is one of 44 states, plus Washington, D.C., Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands, that participate in Powerball. Both amounts do not figure in a deduction for taxes.

The jackpot reached this size because no one had matched all the numbers since April 1. His family did not yet make plans on how to spend the $1 million of compensation they will be awarded for selling the winning ticket.

Menifee has about 89,000 residents.
