Doom 2 Floppy Disk Up For Auction Reaches Over $3000

Doom 2 Floppy Disk Up For Auction Reaches Over $3000

The co-founder of id Software and designer behind Wolfenstein 3D, Dangerous Dave, Hexen, Doom, and Quake, just sold his original DOOM 2 floppies on eBay.

Despite these being ordinary 3.5 inch floppy disks in a world where disk drives have long since become obsolete, the bids on eBay have risen to a staggering $880.

Romero lists the disks in "very good" condition. Without any box or any manuals.

Romero noted in his listing that this is the original launch version of Doom 2 (v 1.7). If you want a boxed copy of the original floppy disk version, circa 1994, there's a copy available on eBay right now for $75.

"These disks look great - no defects other than they are 23 years old, so the glue from the label is slowly coming through", said Romero.

He would even sign it too that's pretty awesome. It may seem a little pricey now up to the $3100 mark but you know deep down you would spend that cold hard cash on a piece of gaming history? So, start your bidding and get your hands on this vintage gold before its too late. Join us on Discord, on our Facebook page, or Twitter!
