Stephen Colbert Repeatedly Kicks Sean Spicer While He's Down, and Likely Out

White House press secretary Sean Spicer's first on-camera press briefing in over a week was full of non-answers and promises to "touch base" with President Donald Trump at a later date.

The dust-up comes the same day Time confirmed Spicer is interested in to walk away from the podium to take on the role of Senior Advisor for Communications on a full-time basis, according to two officials.

After weeks of rumors about Spicer's role in the White House, anonymous sources told Politico Monday the White House press secretary has begun trying to find a replacement who will conduct briefings with the media.

"It's no secret we've had a couple of vacancies including our communications director.we've been seeking input from people as far as what ideas they might have", Mr Spicer said. Toward the end of the (very short) briefing, Spicer was asked to answer "just very plainly ... does President Trump believe that the Russian government interfered in the 2016 elections?"

"And, so, when he's ready to make that announcement, we'll let you know", he added. But there is no massive White House shake-up coming, it's not going to happen.

The White House has consulted an array of Republicans and Trump allies, including Laura Ingraham, the conservative radio host and political commentator.

Speaking with CNN's Brooke Baldwin after the briefing, Acosta lashed out at the White House press secretary, Sean Spicer, and questioned the value of such meetings.

Clinton retweeted Klaas, attacking the White House.

That Spicer has become an object of ridicule for "Saturday Night Live" and the late-night shows has not been lost on the right.

President Trump has long considered making major staffing changes within the White House, the Associated Press reported, and reports have constantly swirled of top advisers being potentially replaced.

"I understand. I've seen the reports", Spicer said. The clip mocks Spicer's organizational skills, ability to speak clearly and attention to detail.
