Arsenal's improved Thomas Lemar bid

Arsenal's improved Thomas Lemar bid

The Arsenal supremo showed a huge statement of intent after securing the club record signing of Alexandre Lacazette earlier this week and it appears the Frenchman is now hoping to further strengthen his midfield options. The arrival of Sead Kolasinac, even though it did not garner as much media attention, was also a shrewd signing on a free.

Lemar made 55 appearances for Monaco last term, scoring 14 goals and providing 17 assists in all competitions.

Monaco are expected to reject this improved bid, which will disappoint both Thomas Lemar who wants the move and Arsenal.

Many names have been linked with an exit from North London this summer, including fringe players like Mathieu Debuchy, but Arsenal face the danger of losing established players from within their side- and the latest reports suggest a deal seeing one man move away may be imminent.

But the poster-hint might indicate Monaco are preparing for life after Thomas Lemar.

Sport Witness cited L'Equipe's report and acknowledged Lemar and Lacazette's friendship as an undeniable factor in the speculation, not to mention there are already a glut of French speakers at the Emirates. Monaco turned down the bid and seems adamant in their stance that Lemar is not for sale.

Looking at the bigger picture, what's clear is that Arsenal are refusing to give up on Lemar right now, and it's likely the Gunners will continue to raise their bid gradually as they try to land the 21-year-old.
