Lucas to leave Liverpool: Lazio submit £5m bid for Kop favourite

LUCAS LEIVA'S ten-year spell as a Liverpool player appears to be coming to an end after Lazio made a £5million bid.

Lazio have had a £5m offer accepted by Liverpool for midfielder Lucas Leiva.

Lucas has enjoyed an extensive career at Anfield, winning the club's Player of the Year award in 2011 during his ten-year affiliation with the Reds.

A move to Italy will not be complicated for the Brazil global as he also holds an Italian passport.

Earlier this week, it was claimed that Lucas was in talks with Lazio over a move to the Serie A outfit this summer.

Lucas is due to face Wigan tonight in his club's second friendly of pre-season, but his participation in that match is now in doubt as negotiations continue this afternoon.

During his time with the Reds, he has only managed to pick up one piece of silverware, when Liverpool won the 2011/12 League Cup.

He played 25 games as Liverpool finished as runners-up in the 2008-09 season and established himself as a first-team regular starter the following campaign.

That would leave Henderson as the club's longest-serving player.

The 30-year-old - a cult hero at Liverpool who enjoys a close relationship with manager Jurgen Klopp - came close to leaving the club in the last transfer window.
