Manchester United confident of keeping David De Gea because of one reason

The 26-year-old has risen to become one of the best 'keppers in the world during his six seasons at Old Trafford, and could fetch a whopping £60m if he moves to the Bernabeu this summer.

"I don't like to speak about players who aren't ours, because Morata is not our player".

"I am nobody to speak about players from Real Madrid". We were interested. That's obvious, it was public knowledge but we didn't reach an economic agreement.

"They've identified for a long time that his development at Juventus, his training at Madrid and the fact that he's a consistent trophy victor at a very young age, meant that they thought he was the right player".

Chelsea will refuse to pay £80m to sign Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata, according to reports in the Spanish media. "We do not determine what the price is of a player of Real Madrid, Real Madrid do that, and we didn't arrive at an agreement with Real Madrid".

"At the moment, Morata's mentality is still that he doesn't get the game time at Madrid, and although he'd like to triumph there, Chelsea are real contenders and they can afford him".

David de Gea has been linked with a move to Real Madrid for a number of seasons and came close to joining the La Liga champions in 2015.

Manchester United abandoned their pursuit of Morata from Real Madrid to sign Romelu Lukaku from Everton earlier this month but the striker is still attracting interest from Chelsea.

Premier League champions Chelsea are reportedly holding on to Serbia worldwide Matic until they complete the signing of Monaco midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko, which is believed to be close.

With Chelsea losing out on Lukaku, they have turned their attention in signing Real's Morata.
