PDP Offers 'Amnesty' to Sheriff, Cairo, Others

The Supreme Court of Nigeria is the highest court in our land and we await the copy of the full judgement delivered on July 12, 2017.

He said that through it, the PDP had paid the price of democracy for other political parties.

Makarfi made the announcement while reacting to a questions from journalists on whether the party would punish Modu Sheriff.

Checks by our correspondent showed that aside the above mentioned twitter handle traced to Sheriff, there are three other handles which has his display picture.

"We will leave the room open".

The statement further reads: "Following efforts by the Commission to correct the erroneous and misleading information through its social media platforms, some who had no ulterior motive apologized and deleted the post".

"Meanwhile, we continue with our avowed demands that the party must be given back to the owners at the grassroots to always elect their party officials and those to contest elections for them at all levels".

Sacked factional national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Ali Modu Sheriff, has denied congratulating the Senator Ahmed Makarfi over the recognition of his camp by the Supreme Court as the authentic leadership of the party.

He said that he would have also destroyed the party's flag in his possession.

He described Sheriff as "a monumental distraction, who created a painful and agonising period for the party" and advised him and his supporters to desist from committing fresh offence.

"It is general amnesty for all".

He added that the party would have won in Edo and Ondo States if its members had cooperated.

"We want to appeal to everybody, those who have cases in courts, to withdraw them in the interest of the party".

"Moving forward, we must embrace true reconciliation, so as to be united as a formidable option to send the APC packing in 2019".
