Trump Jr meeting: Russian Federation lobbyist confirms attendance

He has suspected ties to Russian intelligence.

The lobbyist, Rinat Akhmetshin, who denies any connection to the Russian government, reportedly accompanied the lawyer Natalia Veselnitskaya to the meeting with president's eldest son in June of 2016 at Trump Tower.

Another attendee made himself known on Friday: Rinat Akhmetsin, a former Soviet counterintelligence officer who had teamed up with Veselnitskaya to lobby against a US sanctions bill that resulted in Russian President Vladimir Putin banning American adoptions of Russian children.

USA officials became aware of Akhmetshin's potential involvement in the meeting earlier this week.

"I never thought this would be such a big deal to be honest", the AP quotes Akhmetshin. The Magnitsky Act allows the USA to withhold visas and freeze the assets of Russians thought to have violated human rights. [She] suggested that making the information public could help the Trump campaign, he said.

Both Akhmetshin and Samochornov are named in an April 2017 complaint by the Senate Judiciary Committee examining the question of possible collusion between the Russian government and the Trump campaign.

The Inquisitr reported on Tuesday, July 11, that Trump Jr. released on Twitter the email chain documenting his conversation with Goldstone after he offered Russian intelligence on Clinton.

"Happy to work with the committee to pass on what I know", Trump Jr., said in a tweet responding to a call from Republican Senator and member of the investigative panel Susan Collins that he be interviewed as part of the probe.

"This could be a good issue to expose how the DNC is accepting bad money", Akhmetshin recalled her saying. She said she had a two-page document which touched on the DNC funding allegations but primarily dealt with certain sanctions against Russian Federation. "In reply to that, I told him that not only I don't have any financial records of that time - there was no chance that I could somehow, anyhow, have such records". "Did Ivanka Trump disclose that meeting on her initial SF-86 filing?"

So now we're down to one unidentified person.

Akhmetshin has denied those charges and declined to comment to POLITICO.

On April 4, Sen. Even more interesting that Trump Jr forgot the presence of a former Soviet intelligence agent, given how much efforts by Russian intel programs have dominated headlines in relation to his father's electoral victory.

Rinat Akmetshin was born in the former Soviet Union and served in its military.

The Magnitsky Act banned officials alleged to be involved in his death from visiting the United States and from using US banks. "I think that Donald Trump Jr. has learned a lesson, and I hope it's a valuable lesson".

Two more participants have been reported in a notorious Trump Tower meeting that took place in June 2016 between members of Donald Trump's presidential campaign team and a Russian lawyer, as discussion rages over whether the Trump campaign cooperated with any Russian efforts to influence last year's us presidential election.

Futerfas said he has talked with that individual.

"I never worked for the Russian government". It was not immediately clear if the person he referred to was Akhmetshin.
