Dumbo Live Action Cast and Release Date Confirmed

Dumbo Live Action Cast and Release Date Confirmed

The original animated film opened in theaters on October 23, 1941.

The news was reported during the studio's in-house expo D23, and the convention's Twitter feed also confirmed prior reports as to who would be starring in the film, and yes, it appears that Dumbo is going to be a Batman Returns reunion of sorts. Disney also confirmed some major casting, including Colin Farrell, Danny Devito, Eva Green, Michael Keaton, Nico Parker, and Finley Hobbins. Circus owner Max Medici (DeVito) enlists Holt to care for a newborn elephant whose oversized ears make him a laughingstock in an already struggling circus.

There's no stopping the juggernaut that is Disney's live-action remakes and Tim Burton is in the driving seat for one of them, having been confirmed as the director of Dumbo, which will be released in the USA on 29 March 2019.

On top of that, a life-size sculpted model of the titular elephant of Tim Burton's Dumbo was wheeled onto stage - and it's pretty nightmare-inducing. The project is expected to use a mixture of CG and live-action elements to capture a new take on the story, and considering Burton's involvement, we know the end result will at least be a visually distinct piece of work.

This official Dumbo set photo shows Burton aboard the Casey Jr. - the famous train that transports the residents of the circus to which Dumbo and his family belongs, in the original 1941 animated film.

Among the slew of announcements made at D23, Deadline reports that Disney's live-action DUMBO now has a release date.

Dumbo continues Disney's latest trend of bringing live-action versions of its beloved properties to life, with The Jungle Book and Beauty and the Beast being the most recent additions to an ever-growing catalog. The cast also includes Roshan Seth, DeObia Oparei, Sharon Rooney and Douglas Reith.
