IIFA 2017: 'Ae Dil Hai Mushkil' film wins big in music category

Sushant is one of the outspoken actors in Bollywood, but sometimes his blunt response backfires.

Shahid Kapoor and Alia Bhatt were on Saturday named Best Actors at the 18th edition of the IIFA Awards, for their remarkable work in "Udta Punjab". In the video, the audience could easily witness the duo happily playing with the IIFA trophy after the award function. "In the midst of all this, Sushant Singh Rajput went on and tweeted tagging IIFA, "@iifa hahahaha" which was seen cryptically by many, as a reaction for not being able to win the Best Actor award.

"#Udtapunjab double whammy. Tommy and Mary Jane".

Well, Udta Punjab is the film, which had gone through many troubles created by the CBFC as the film is based on the drug abuse by youth in the state of Punjab and the various conspiracies surrounding it. On the other hand, Alia Bhatt portrays the role of a migrant woman who dreams of playing national level hockey for the country but she gets trapped and exploited in drug lord's house.

Pritam Chakraborty has won the Best Music Direction award for the Karan Johar directorial, while Amitabh Bhattacharya won the Best Lyricist award for the movie's song 'Channa Mere Ya'. Sushant, who was nominated for his performance in M S Dhoni: The Untold Story, tweeted cryptically "hahahaha", tagging the IIFA Twitter handle, on July 15, the day the award ceremony took place in New Jersey.

Katrina Kaif gave away the award to Shahid at the ceremony in NY, while Varun Dhawan announced Alia as the Best Actor - Female at the event, held at the Metlife Stadium.

The best playback singer female award was shared by Tulsi Kumar for "Soch na sake" (Airlift) and Kanika Kapoor for "Da da dasse" (Udta Punjab). In which "Neerja" named the best picture and received the award of the 2017 International Indian Film Academy (IIFA).
