Passengers get sick after strong odor on plane

RALEIGH, North Carolina - Officials with the Raleigh-Durham International Airport say that a jet was evacuated Sunday after a person "passed gas", making passengers feel ill.

The flight, which was not identified, landed at the airport around 4 pm when the incident was reported.

The passengers apparently complained of nausea and headaches.

An airport spokesperson originally told WNCN the odor was caused by a passenger who "passed gas".

In January 2016, a passenger passed a note to a flight attendant suggesting an announcement inquiring about the health of a fellow traveler, The Telegraph reported.

Authorities investigated the incident and determined that one of the passengers had "passed gas".

"The medical call came in for someone affected by an odor after the plane deplaned normally", the airport official said in the statement.

What is true is that American flight 1927 from Charlotte to RDU arrived at the gate 2:21 p.m. Sunday, according to airline spokeswoman Lakesha Brown.

American Airlines officials admitted that there indeed was an odour issue, but rubbished reports that the reason was because of a passenger passing gas.

This is hardly the strangest thing to ever happen on a plane.
