Sekulow on Trump Jr. Meeting: Secret Service Just Let Them In

There should be no question now that Russian Federation interfered in last year's election on behalf of Donald Trump, and that, despite vehement and self-righteous denials, the Trump campaign was fully aware.

"Importantly, Junior also had copied then-campaign manager Paul Manafort and Jared Kushner on his response, indicating that the campaign's senior staff were willing to accept damaging information on the Democratic opponent from a foreign hostile state".

Trump 2020 campaign committees have spent almost $700,000 on legal fees between the beginning of April and the end of June, according to the FEC reports.

Donald Trump Jr. later said in a statement that he had met the Russian lawyer at the request of an acquaintance, adding he turned the conversation to adoption of Russian children and the Magnitsky Act.

The comments come as congressional committees and the Federal Bureau of Investigation continue to investigate Russian efforts to influence the 2016 presidential election - and whether members of Trump's campaign cooperated.

"Donald Trump Jr himself said things should have been done differently", Mr Sekulow said in an interview with ABC. The President's son has tried to discount the meeting, saying he did not receive the information he was promised. Then, it was to hear information about Clinton.

In a statement to the Times, Mr Trump Jr said she "stated that she had information that individuals connected to Russian Federation were funding the Democratic National Committee and supporting Mrs Clinton".

The number of people known to be at the meeting also changed over time.

"HillaryClinton can illegally get the questions to the Debate & delete 33,000 emails but my son Don is being scorned by the Fake News Media?", he tweeted on Sunday. As recently as Friday, Rinat Akhmetshin, a Russian-American lobbyist and former Soviet military officer, confirmed his participation to the Associated Press.

"This is about as clear of evidence you could find of intent by the campaign to collude with the Russians, to get useful information from the Russians", Rep. Adam Schiff, D-Calif., said of Trump Jr.'s emails.

The allegations have cast a cloud over Mr Trump administration since he took office. He's expected to join the White House at the end of the month.
