Arsene Wenger discusses future of Jack Wilshere at Arsenal

Wilshere, who is now injured again with a calf problem, has just under a year left on his Gunners contract but Wenger appears happy to have him back this summer, although he has warned the 25-year-old he needs to prove himself again when fit and work hard.

Following a number of long-term injuries which kept him out of the Arsenal first-team for months on end, Wilshere was eventually sent out on loan to fellow Premier League side Bournemouth last season.

"When he returns, he won't be far from practising with the team", The Sun quotes Wenger as saying. He made a total of 27 Premier League appearances - completing the full 90 minutes on 15 occasions - and created the most chances of any player in Eddie Howe's squad (34). The Englishman is now valued at £15.3m by one transfer expert website.

"I think Jack will be with Arsenal next season, yes", he said, as reported by the Daily Mirror.

According to reports from both Italy and England, Serie A's Sampdoria want to buy the player ahead of next season's domestic competition.

Arsenal are now trying to bring in a host of new players as Wenger attempts a charge to get the Gunners back into the top four.

West Ham and Everton were tentatively linked with swoops for him in the past, but it is Sampdoria who are the only current party interested in his signature.
