Derrick Rose, Cavaliers discussing one-year deal

"Playing on a contender is important to Rose". In exchange for Rose, guard Justin Holiday (who the Bulls just resigned in free agency) and a 2017 second round pick, the Bulls acquired center Robin Lopez and guards Jerian Grant and Jose Calderon.

Rose, a former MVP award victor, is looking to continue his career rehab after multiple injuries.

Major injuries to the knees have ended the careers of numerous National Basketball Association players in the past. Adding up a Rose will surely enhance the roster and can compete with other contenders especially against the Western Conference teams like Golden State, Houston, San Antonio and Oklahoma City.

Despite the fatal injury, Rose recovered better than most.

Changing his game to a more traditional point guard role will be one of the biggest challenges Rose has faced.

The deal will surely put the Cavs on the fast track back to the NBA Finals as a Rose and Irving backcourt may be one of the best in the league considering their skills.

Derrick Rose is expected to meet with the Cleveland Cavaliers soon, for in-person discussions about a deal to bring the former NBA MVP to Cleveland. Last season, Rose played for the New York Knicks. "Irving has expressed that he wants to go play in a situation where he can be a more focal point and no longer wants to play alongside LeBron James, sources said", writes Windhorst. The role would not need to be on a victor either, as ESPN's Chris Haynes reported a list of preferred teams for the point guard. The Cavs have very little cap space remaining, so they would likely be looking to sign Rose for close to the veteran minimum. That is what the Cleveland Cavaliers would be like if Derrick Rose ended up in Northeast Ohio.

Irving had a good relationship with Griffin, who was a point man in selling Irving on a five-year contract extension in 2014 even though the team was coming off four consecutive losing seasons.

The 28-year-old guard is an unrestricted free agent after spending last season with the New York Knicks.
