Amazon, in sign of growth, holds job fair for USA warehouses

Amazon has some job openings.

Staten Islanders looking for a job may want to head to New Jersey Wednesday morning, where Amazon says it plans to hire 1,500 people to fill positions at its Garden State locations. Others will be competing for many of those potential hires. With informational sessions, candidate tours, and an onsite application processes, the company is poised to make thousands of on-the-spot, bona-fide offers to qualified candidates across the country in one day. The majority of jobs will be full-time. Amazon will also hold events for part-time positions in Oklahoma City and Buffalo, New York. The Robbinsville Amazon Fulfillment Center is located at: 50 New Canton Way, Robbinsville, NJ 08691.

Expect long lines Wednesday in Kenosha when the Amazon Fulfillment Center hosts a job hiring event.

Almost 40,000 of the 50,000 jobs offered across the county will be full-time.

In January, Amazon announced plans to add more than 100,000 full-time jobs over the next year and a half, bringing its total USA work force to 280,000. The last time unemployment was this low, wages were rising at roughly a 4 percent rate.

The online retail giant said its jobs offer health insurance, disability insurance, retirement savings plans and company stock. Amazon's growth has been phenomenal, with sales nearly doubling in a three-year span, and now it is seeking to grow outside of its core.
