Colts C Ryan Kelly leaves practice field on crutches

He finished the drill, but then was taken inside by trainers.

"I didn't see it, " coach Chuck Pagano said of Kelly's injury. Schefter also hears doubts about Luck being "ready to open the season", but didn't mention anything about him opening the year on reserve/PUP. "These two days against Detroit I think will be a real test against their front line, and we'll get a good gauge for where we are at with the O-line". But with the influx of outside talent brought into the organization in new general manager Chris Ballard's first year on the job, it seems the Colts aren't willing to wait and see how Langford heals.

The 2017 University of San Diego football season doesn't kickoff until September 2 when the Toreros play host to Western New Mexico in a 2 p.m. game at Torero Stadium.

Additionally, Indianapolis ranked just 23rd in rushing yards in 2016, a reflection of how poor its run blocking was.

The Indianapolis Colts have been close to silent about the status of Andrew Luck this offseason and still haven't had him on the field in training camp as he recovers from shoulder surgery.

To make matters worse for the Colts, Kelly isn't the only player dealing with injury issues.

He filled the roster spot for defensive end Kendall Langford. He has played in 135 career games (113 solo) and totaled 369 tackles (240 solo), 22.5 sacks, 20 passes defensed, four forced fumbles and one fumble recovery in his time with the Colts (2015-16), St. Louis Rams (2012-14) and Miami Dolphins (2008-2011).
