NFL notes: Case Keenum has a solid debut for the Vikings

Sam Bradford #8 hands the ball off to Dalvin Cook #33 of the Minnesota Vikings during the first quarter of a preseason game against the Buffalo Bills on August 10, 2017 at New Era Field in Orchard Park, New York. Case Keenum looked great, throwing for 121 yards and - check out this good dog watching the game!

Henderson gave up two sacks, the first putting a scare into the Bills when Everson Griffen bull-rushed him and dropped Taylor for an 11-yard loss. The reserves were bad either, with the Bills getting just a 42-yard field goal by Stephen Hauschka early in the second quarter for a 3-0 lead and a 1-yard TD pass from Nathan Peteson to Dezmin Lewis early in the fourth quarter.

Vikings: LT Riley Reiff (back), RBs Latavius Murray (ankle) and Jerick McKinnon, WR Laquon Treadwell (leg).

Heinicke completed three of eight passes for 20 yards and threw an interception, but also led Minnesota to its second touchdown with a drive that chewed up almost half of the third quarter. But the Vikings' first-team defense was stingy as usual and the second-team defense also wasn't too shabby. We get a glimpse of who can be counted on if there's an injury. "As each week goes, we're going to get better and better". His 2-yard TD pass late in the third quarter put the Vikings ahead 17-3.

In his Vikings debut, St. Paul native Michael Floyd had two catches for 20 yards.

As always, preseason games don't feature stars for an entire game and some like Buffalo running back LeSean McCoy may not see the field for more than a few snaps, if at all. Sankey was on crutches and his right knee in a brace in the locker room.

There are plenty of battles on special teams.
