Now enjoy anonymous messaging with Sarahah. Is it annoying?

Sarahah, created by a developer from Saudi Arabia, named ZainAlabdin Tawfiq, has become a viral app on the internet and it is affecting everyone. Messages once sent on the app cannot be retrieved, and the only advice users can get at this point is to be kind and constructive even if the app is letting you stay anonymous for now. If it's any consolation, the app's FAQs page assures users that "Sarahah won't disclose the identity of the logged-in senders to users except with their consent" and "Sarahah doesn't steal data but websites and apps impersonating Sarahah could do that". Anyone can visit the profile using that link and leave anonymous messages. But do you really think people around us are so innocuous that they would let go of a golden opportunity of being critical?

According to FT "Sarahah has seen a fast rise to the #1 rank, particularly given that apps who reach the #1 daily downloads rank have to pass heavyweights like Facebook Messenger, Facebook and Pinterest in the US", App Annie says. Snapchat users embed their Sarahah link into one of the snaps in their Snap Story, then let the anonymous commenting begin.

Like any other app, after you've downloaded Sarahah, you'll have to set up an account.

While it seems like a fool-proof way to say anything you want without having to put yourself in a situation where you have to deal with any responses, there are risks with Sarahah everyone is now turning a blind eye to. The recipient is the only one who can see the messages unless they decide to share them.

Although meant as a simple messaging app with a different idea, the anonymity feature of Sarahah app is being misused by some malicious individuals for trolling and cyber-bullying. The person receiving the comments has no way to know who posted the message and has absolutely no way to respond. In case you're wondering what's so unique about it, Sarahah lets you do so by keeping your identity concealed. The "Explore" tab in particular is yet to be made live.

"Sarahah helps people self-develop by receiving constructive anonymous feedback", read Sarahah's description on Google Play Store. This app can be used through its website and also through its mobile app. Even without logging in, people can visit your profile and leave messages, anonymously. Unfortunately, you won't be able to reply so you will be at the mercy of the person of the sender.

Getting your hands on the Sarahah app is not hard at all.

Sarahah offers limited setting options as of now.
