The new Ed Balls? Rev Richard Coles announced for Strictly 2017

The new Ed Balls? Rev Richard Coles announced for Strictly 2017

While the popular dance show hasn't yet hit the screens, it has been ramping up the tension by introducing a new celebrity contestant every day and today was the turn of actress and model Gemma Atkinson.

Speaking about swapping soaps for Strictly, Gemma said: "I am honoured to be asked and so thrilled to be joining Strictly Come Dancing 2017!". Not so much a Cha Cha Cha, but more like a gentle Lago.

The other celebrities on the line up so far include This Morning's Ruth Lansgford, Mollie King and EastEnders' Davood Ghadami but more are expected to be announced over the coming weeks. I am not graceful, my mum says I'm like a baby elephant. I'm going to challenge my inner feminine side. "Put me in a gym with a load of lads and dumbbells I'm fine, put me on a dance floor in a frock and it's way out of my comfort zone, so I've got to do it".

We can't wait to see him in action!

Host of ITV's This Morning and regular Loose Women panellist Ruth Langsford was the third confirmed celeb.

"I've said every year I'd love to do Strictly".

'The sum of my dance experience is throwing a few shapes at a party, I've never had a dance lesson in my life. I am so excited, I'm really nervous as well.

'It will be a welcome change worrying about my next hot move instead of my next hot flush!'

The series will air in the fall.

It will be the first series without Len Goodman on the judging panel but there is a very exciting replacement.

In May it was revealed that ballroom dancer and coach Shirley Ballas would be his replacement, joining fellow judges Craig Revel Horwood, Darcey Bussell and Bruno Tonioli.

But who has what it takes to become champion this year?
