Brighton v Manchester City - How do the teams compare?

Guardiola looks set to hand the youngster his Premier League debut on Saturday as the Citizens travel to Brighton for the opening weekend of the new season. Ederson made 27 appearances in the Portuguese League and only conceded 12 goals.

"The last six or seven years Manchester City didn't buy full backs".

He added: "But we prefer to be aggressive without the ball, it's the same as last season". Mendy and Walker's numbers are similar when they are attacking, as Mendy averages 1.5 dribbles and 1 key pass per game, while Walker averages 1.1 dribbles and 1.2 key passes per game.

Asked about extra pressure, he added: "It's the same pressure as I had last season. This group of players is going to stay for a long time at Manchester City".

Guardiola confirmed Mendy and midfielder Ilkay Gundogan are recovering well but neither would be available for selection for City's weekend clash at the Amex Stadium. These tactics have brought Guardiola great success over the years, but in preseason this summer Guardiola has employed a three in the back tactic. However they have stepped up from their finishing their tour with their wins over Real Madrid and Tottenham Hotspur, before heading to Iceland to take on West Ham United.

Although many still believe Pep will continue with his beloved 4-3-3, the additional formation will give City some flexibility next season, and they can use it in big games to use the element of surprise, such as the Manchester Derby. Guardiola is also under pressure, having returned trophyless in his first season at City.

From goalkeeper to forwards Manchester City have the best squad in England, as some of their backups could start for a top six side in England. "Sead Kolasinac is also is in England now; I met him already in London", Sane said.

"If we can keep (captain) Vincent Kompany fit and in the team alongside the new signings, then I think we have everything ready for a very successful 2017/18 campaign".

The manager said he is building for the future and has since signed goalkeeper Ederson, Bernardo Silva, Kyle Walker and Danilo. Hughton has been in the Premier League with Newcastle and Norwich and has a reputation - particularly at the Canaries - for playing safety-first football and making sides hard to beat.

City have spent more than £200million rebuilding their squad over the summer after an underwhelming and trophy-less 2016-17 campaign.
