Everton manager Ronald Koeman confident Swansea's Gylfi Sigurdsson deal will go through

The Spain World Cup victor is now injured after fracturing his arm in a cycling accident while on holiday last month and will miss the opening game of the Premier League season at Southampton on Saturday.

'He (Llorente) has got a year to go on his deal and we'd like him to stay for this year and longer, ' Clement said.

"I'm confident he will because of the conversations I've had with Fernando".

"That makes us feel that if we play well and the team we are playing don't play so well, we can get a result anywhere".

He said: "Tom is very good and he has got some excellent deliveries from his left foot".

Clement also believes he has a stronger squad this season, but some fans on social media disagree, believing we're actually weaker with a lack of strength in depth. I heard some rumours that talks broke down but still we are in negotiations with Swansea and I hear the comments of Paul Clement, and of course everybody likes to have news on that, that's better for us and for them.

He said: "The situation is our club have a valuation and another club have a valuation and the two clubs have not met".

Swansea City head coach Paul Clement has set out his clear objectives for his players this season - as he aims to improve "all areas" of the squad and to bring back an "identity".

Ronald Koeman has told the Daily Mail that Everton are very close to tying up a deal for Swansea City's Gylfi Sigurdsson.

The 27-year-old subsequently pulled out of the club's tour to the United States and has not featured in any pre-season game since, although he has taken a full part in training.

'It's not an ideal situation, I can't say that it's not.

He admitted: "We're at a critical stage and hope it's going to be resolved as soon as possible".

"But we have a number of weeks to go (in terms of incomings), and I don't anticipate it (Sigurdsson) going to the end of the window".
