Jose Mourinho confident of second season success with Manchester United

Manchester United are in talks to re-sign striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic for the second half of the season, says manager Jose Mourinho.

And following his latest post on Instagram, in which the 35-year-old former PSG striker shared four videos of his workout regime, it's easy to see why Jose Mourinho is so keen to keep Ibrahimovic at Old Trafford for a while longer.

"You know he's injured, he needs time to recover, he's not ready to play tomorrow", Mourinho said of the club's top scorer last season. "I just think he was very clear showing what he did a year ago was not enough for him".

"So we are having conversations and we are discussing the possibility of him staying with us for the second part of the season".

Ibrahimovic, who turns 36 in October, quickly became a fans' favourite among the Reds faithful last term, hitting 17 goals in the Premier League alone and scoring two winning goals at Wembley to clinch the Community Shield and EFL Cup respectively.

Romelu Lukaku, Victor Lindelof and Nemanja Matic have so far arrived this summer, but Mourinho always meant to make four acquisitions.

"So I don't think I am in a position of crying, of moaning, of protesting. I'm really happy to start the Premier League this weekend because our pre-season was very complete and was a pre-season organised in a way where we start playing MLS teams and ended playing against the best teams in Europe".

"I don't think I am going to win it because I always win it in the second season".

"We have added three players, one defender, one midfielder and one attacking player", the Portuguese boss explained. Our levels of confidence and knowledge are higher so I am happy to start the season.

"We got a central defender that can play in many other positions, which is important".

"We got a central midfielder, we got a striker".

"But if we cannot strengthen the team in this area, we have players we can trust".

"I have better conditions to deliver a better season than my first one. If the remaining 25 per cent don't arrive I will not moan, I will just go with everything I have to try to win every match I play". But we are involved in four competitions. It's not hard this season to motivate them to that level.
