Pall of gloom descends on death of IAS officer

Mr Pandey, an IAS officer of the 2012 batch, was found dead near railway track at the Ghaziabad railway station in Delhi NCR on Friday. The Government Railway Police said a suicide note had helped identify Mukesh Pandey after his body was found on the tracks, The Times of India reported. However, sources say that he has sent a message to anyone from his phone which states that I am committing suicide by jumping from the mall's 10th floor in Janakpuri area of Western Delhi. The police officer also revealed that GRP recovered a suicide note, a purse and an identity card of the deceased from the spot. Reportedly, a suicide note has also been recovered. Police said the officer had a daughter. Police tracked him all the way to Anand Vihar on the Ghaziabad border but the trail ran cold after that. Further legal action would follow. "Please forgive me", read the suicide note found in his hotel room.

Pandey was promoted as Buxar DM on July 31. However, when the police reached the location, Pandey had apparently left.

"I am Mukesh Kumar Pandey, IAS, 2012 batch, posted as DM Buxar". The last rites will happen in Guwahati, where his parents live.Pandey's uncle Vasisth Narayan, who was also was present, said he had no idea why he killed himself. I have no pressure to commit suicide.

Police said they later found the "detailed suicide note" from the hotel room in which the officer had written he was "upset" because of problems in his marital life. I am sorry. I love you all! "At 9 PM, we got information that his body is found in Ghaziabad area", stated the police officer.

After scanning the CCTV footage, it was found that he was leaving the mall and going towards the nearby metro station, the official said, adding on analysis of CCTV footage there, he could not be traced. Earlier, he had worked in the SDM and Katihar DDC post in Ballia subdivision of Begusarai, but what happened within a week was that IAS Mukesh had to commit suicide or there was any other reason for Mukesh's suicide. Delhi Police in their initial investigation have learnt that the IAS officer especially visited Delhi to commit suicide.
