Trump jokes that North Korea's threats will boost tourism to Guam

This week Pyongyang's state-run news agency said its army would complete plans in mid-August to fire four intermediate-range missiles over Japan to land near Guam, a U.S. territory and military base, amid increasingly heated rhetoric over the North Korea's nuclear weapons program.

According to a video tweeted by the Guam News on Friday, Calvo while talking to Trump via an office phone switched the call to speaker phone to enable viewers hear the conversation clearly, Xinhua news agency reported. "They should have had me eight years ago, somebody with my thought process".

Trump then says, "We're going to do a great job for you".

He then reassures Mr Calvo, who he describes as a "hell of a guy", telling him the USA military is "rock solid".

North Korea has announced a detailed plan to launch a salvo of ballistic missiles into the seas around the US Pacific territory of Guam, a major military hub and home to US bombers.

"Mr President, as the Governor of Guam, representative of Guam's people, and as an American citizen, I felt never more safe and confident with you at the helm", the Governor said with a smile. Don't worry about a thing. "But you'll be taken care of". "All over the world they are talking about Guam, and they are talking about you".

North Korea says its Hwasong-12 missiles would take just 1,065 seconds to complete their 3,356km flight over Japan before splashing down in waters off the coast of Guam.

Calvo agrees, saying, "It's paradise".

And he told the former hotel magnate, "We have 95 percent occupancy and after all of this stuff calms down we're going to have 110 percent occupancy".

Trump also suggested his blustering approach was an effective way to quiet Kim Jong-Un. "We'll see how it all works out but you're not going to have a problem". "But regardless, our military is so incredible, and there's no partisanship there, believe me".

The president called the U.S. military "incredible, "rock solid" and "the best in the world by a factor of five". It looks attractive, you know I'm's such a big story in the news.
