Woman killed in Poonch Pak ceasefire violation

No report of setback was accounted for in the episode though, on Monday, Pakistani officers let go along the LoC at Indian posts in Baramullah's Silikoot zone in which a jawan was harmed.

A middle-aged woman was killed as Pakistan violated the LoC ceasefire in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday resulting in a heavy exchange of fire. "The Pakistani troops also resorted to mortar shelling", he said. "If they (Pak Army) fire one bullet, we (Indian Army) retaliate with 10 bullets", Singh said here.

The woman has been identified by the police as Raqia Begum (45).

The attack which took place yesterday, injured a soldier who was later shifted to the military hospital Drugmulla for treatment.

This has been the third incident of ceasefire violation by Pakistan during the last 24 hours, with earlier two been along the border at Uri and Gohlad Kalran in Mendhar.

Meanwhile, 658 schools along the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir's Nowshera sector reopened today after remaining closed for a week following cross-border shelling by Pakistan. The cross-border firing often leads to the deaths of soldiers and civilians on either side.
