Detroit Red Wings to white supremacists: Stop using our logo

The only difference between the Red Wings and Right Wings logos?

It is unknown if the group was involved in the Charlottesville protests. In some instances, the spokes in the wheel were altered to represent the Nazi SS logo.

"The Detroit Red Wings vehemently disagree with and are not associated in any way with the event taking place today in Charlottesville, Va.", the statement read.

On Saturday morning, several marchers were seen carrying the Detroit Red Wings logo, an incongruous symbol among the more blatant displays of Nazism.

In response, the NHL's Detroit Red Wings issued a statement Saturday condemning the bastardized use of their logo in such a hateful way and threatened legal action.

One marching group of protesters, perhaps from the Michigan-based white nationalist group called Detroit Right Wings, which uses a logo similar to that of the Red Wings, was spotted touting the Detroit trademark at the rally by HuffPost's Andy Campbell.

If you saw pictures or videos from Charlottesville, you may have seen the Red Wings' logo.

Clashes between white nationalists and counter-protesters earlier in the day injured eight and prompted Charlottesville police and Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe to declare a state of emergency.
