Man Kills Mother, Sister, Another Woman With Hammer

Bobby Vanderhall allegedly hit all of them multiple times with a hammer he took from the family garage, the same one he allegedly broke into the home with.

A neighbor, Earl Sykes, 38, had been driving home at around 1:20 a.m. when he spotted the surviving victim-barefoot and yelling-who then jumped on the hood of his vehicle, People magazine reported.

Bobby Vanderhall, 34, was also charged with attempted murder in the hammer attack of another friend of his sister who escaped the bloody rampage at the Vanderhall house on Perry Street in Hempstead.

He then beat his mother, 58-year-old Lynn Vanderhall, to death in the kitchen, according to police.

"His behavior became more unruly, more violent", said Fitzpatrick. He obtained a large hammer.

"When he came here last night and it looked like the doors were secured, he became enraged", Fitzpatrick said.

Lt. Stephen Fitzpatrick. Police say he had been removed from the house with emotional issues twice previously and taken to a medical center. The vehicle was about 2 miles away from the Hempstead home. "With this framing hammer he broke through the basement door into the residence".

Police found Vanderhall sleeping inside a parked auto, where he was arrested. "She was covered in blood", said the neighbor. "He's trying to kill us!", according to officials. They said he then attacked the other women.

Vanderhall walked upstairs and bludgeoned his mother to death in the living room.

Janel's father Dennis Simpson told the network that his daughter was a secretary at Northwell Health, a chain of healthcare facilities and used to work late hours.

He described his daughter and her friends as fun-loving women who had gone to to Carnival in Trinidad and were planning a trip to Cuba in the fall.
