Everton's Europa League qualifying clash with Croatian side Hajduk Split was marred by crowd trouble after the away fans started a riot.

Everton boss Ronald Koeman says that the Blues should have left Goodison Park tonight with an even bigger win over Hadjuk Split.

The situation was sufficiently under control a minute or so later with the referee allowing play to continue.

Michael Keane, with his first goal for Everton following his transfer from Burnley, and Idrissa Gueye bagged the all-important goals.

Koeman quickly identified the differing performance levels as an issue, speaking of his disappointment after a stalled second-half display.

"I thought we did very well in the first half - we played with high tempo and made chances to score", he said.

"That's what we aim for, especially in European games at home".

After Hajduk Split failed to clear a corner, Leighton Baines drove to the byline before clipping a cross to the far post that was headed home by Keane for his first Everton goal.

Fabio Borini and Luca Antonelli added two more midway through the second half to set the Italians on the road to the group stages with the second leg away on August 24.

Meanwhile, last year's finalists Ajax Amsterdam lost 1-0 at home against Rosenborg with substitute Samuel Adegbenro scoring the victor for the Norwegians after 77 minutes in the Netherlands.
