Swine Flu deaths reported: CM Vijay Rupani visits New Civil Hospital

Prabhakar said as many as 89 Swine Flu patients are admitted to the hospital while 24 new cases were registered in last 24 hours.

A state-level team, headed by Rupani, was on a tour of four cities- Ahmedabad, Surat, Vadodara and Rajkot- in Gujarat to take stock of the swine flu situation. The government hospitals have set up isolation wards. He sought cooperation from people in keeping their premises clean to avoid spread of swine flu.

Meanwhile, Myanmar's parliamentarians have put forward an important motion urging the government to carry out extensive education awareness campaign in order to contain the current spread of H1N1 virus and stressing the need for introducing preventive vaccination against the infection.

The reports quoted Government officials as claiming that hospitals are equipped with ventilators, oxygen cylinders and medicines.

As many as 12 people died of swine flu in Gujarat today taking the toll in the state to 242 since January this year, the state government said. There have been 2,272 cases of swine flu since January and 857 have been cured whereas 1,225 are under treatment. However, the health department said there is no need for panic as the situation is under control.

The sources said 16 of 47 samples tested positive for swine flu on Wednesday, as the number of affected persons increased to 171.
