Terence Crawford KOs Julius Indongo, unifies four major titles

Crawford (32-0, 23 KOs) entered the ring as the WBC and WBO junior welterweight champion, meaning the victory makes him the first undisputed champion in any weight class since Jermain Taylor reigned at middleweight in 2006.

Energized by his huge home-state following 45 minutes from his Omaha base, Crawford stopped Julius Indongo in the third round Saturday night to claim all four major belts at 140 pounds.

A crowd of more than 12,000 looked on as Crawford became the first boxer to hold four title belts at once since 2005.

Crawford still has time on his side and can afford to wait for the victor of this likely rematch, however an interim fight in the mean time would be beneficial in adjusting to the new weight at 147lbs. Promoter Bob Arum of Top Rank said the plan is for Crawford to go with him to Australia for the expected November rematch between Jeff Horn and Manny Pacquiao.

Coming off the back of an impressive win against Danny Garcia in March, "One Time" is out for the rest of 2017 after having surgery on an injured right elbow, however with Crawford likely to take a warm-up fight in the interim, this fight is a real possibility in 2018 with Thurman himself looking for options. He now holds the WBO and WBC super lightweight world titles.

Though Crawford was a heavy favorite, Indongo had height and reach advantages that caused his camp some concern. "We felt we could catch him in the middle of his punches".

Indongo (22-1, 11 knockouts) made his rise in his weight division in less than a year after winning bouts in Russian Federation and Scotland. The 20-year-old Stevenson, who scored the fight's only knockdown with a straight left hand in the fifth round, swept the scorecards with three counts of 60-53.

Oleksandr Gvozdyk (14-0, 12 KO) faced little resistance from Craig Baker (17-2, 13 KO) before dropping and stopping his Light Heavyweight dance partner in the 6th stanza.

He said: "This is a dream come true".
