WorkSafeBC releases report on 'Deadpool 2' death

A woman who was killed on a stunt during filming of the movie Deadpool 2 went outside the planned boundaries of the stunt, according to an initial report by WorkSafeBC released on Friday.

The movie is scheduled to be released June 1.

WorkSafeBC, the B.C.'s main workplace regulatory agency, said the temporary work site in downtown Vancouver had been cordoned off from the public and traffic by the Vancouver Police Department.

"The worker (Harris) had been rehearsing a stunt scene that involved driving a motorcycle, Dictate 939 Hyperstrada, out of the open doors of a building, across a concrete pad and down a ramp that had been built over three stairs and coming to a stop on the stair landing".

A professional motorbike racer from NY, she was on her first movie as a stunt double and was not wearing a crash helmet.

The coroner's service has said Harris, 40, of New York City, died at the scene.

The 26-year-old actress has paid tribute to Joi "SJ" Harris after she passed away in a motorcycle accident on the set of the film on Monday (14.08.17). Now Deadline has more details on Harris' death, including what stunt she was performing and what went wrong.

Harris started riding bikes in 2012, received her race license in May 2013 and started racing in 2014 with the American Sportbike Racing Association/Championship Cup Series.

"Harris - who billed herself as the first licensed African-American woman in US history to actively compete in sanctioned motorcycle road racing events" - received her race license in 2013 and began racing in 2014 with the American Sportbike Racing Association/Championship Cup Series.

One witness, who was watching filming, described it as "out-of-control".

Joi Harris, a motorcyclist known for competing in road racing events, died in a tragic accident on Monday at Canada Place Way where the sequel was being filmed. Video footage obtained and posted by the Hollywood website TMZ showed Mr. Reynolds leading the crew in a moment of silence. "We're heartbroken, shocked, and devastated... but recognize nothing can come close to the grief and inexplicable pain her family and loved ones must feel in this moment", Reynolds wrote on Instagram.

Production resumed two days after her tragic death.

"Deadpool 2" is slated to hit US cinemas on June 1, 2018.
