Birmingham complete the signing of Carl Jenkinson and Bramall from Arsenal

After Arsene Wenger stressed the need to sell some of Arsenal's assets before buying, he has sent two of his full-backs, Carl Jenkinson and Cohen Bramall, down a division to Birmingham City on season-long loans.

Jenkinson edged out Lucas Perez by the slenderest of margins, who got 26% of the vote, and the striker looks near certain to leave this summer and return to Deportivo after a tough first season at Arsenal.

Birmingham City have reportedly edged close to the double loan signing of Carl Jenkinson and Cohen Bramall from Arsenal.

Jenkinson will bring the most top level experience to the Blues having spent time on loan at West Ham between 2014-2016.

Bramall joined Arsenal from non-league Hednesford last January and featured in the club's pre-season tour of Australia.

The duo will work under former Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp who is now in charge at St Andrews. Yaya Sanogo, Wojciech Szczesny and most recently Gabriel Paulista have been the permanent departures thus far, while Emiliano Martinez has joined Getafe on a season-long loan deal.

Both players, who will bolster the defensive options available to Blues boss Harry Redknapp, are eligible to play in tomorrow night's Carabao Cup second-round tie at home to Premier League outfit Bournemouth. So the Frenchman will be pleased to have slimmed down his numbers.
