Gotze to make first Borussia Dortmund start in seven months

Gotze, 25, made his first appearance for Dortmund in seven months in a 3-0 Bundesliga win over Wolfsburg.

Midway through the first half, the US worldwide received the ball just outside the box, took one step to his right before firing a shot across goal and in off the left post. 'He has played really good but he is a really good player.

Christian Pulisic joked that he would only grade his goal a "B" after scoring Borussia Dortmund's first of the Bundesliga season on Saturday.

Dortmund's director of sport Michael Zorc confirmed Dembele will join Barcelona in this transfer window if they meet Borussia's asking price, reportedly set at 130 million euros ($152m).

In the absence of Ousmane Dembele and Marco Reus, the 18-year-old was given a chance to shine from the start at the Volkswagen Arena - and shine he did! Pulisic scored with a great finish inside the far post midway through the first half.

Marc Bartra then made it 2-0 with a brilliantly curled shot from a hard angle inside the top corner. Running clear down the right wing, Pulisic sent an inch-perfect ball across the face of the Wolfsburg goal for 2016/17 top scorer Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to simply tap home.

Mathew Leckie scored twice on his league debut for Hertha Berlin to beat promoted Stuttgart 2-0 at home.

Elsewhere, Hamburg striker Nicolai Muller scored the victor in a 1-0 victory over Augsburg - but was then substituted after injuring himself when he tripped over the corner flag while celebrating.

Muller, arguably Hamburg's best performer last season, fired the side into an early lead - although Augsburg keeper Marwin Hitz should have done better - but then had to go off after twisting his knee while celebrating.

Martin Harnik handed Hannover a narrow 1-0 away victory over Mainz on Saturday afternoon.
