'Pack' your pigskin: Redskins host Packers in preseason home opener

Back-up quarterback, Brett Hundley had a solid night of his own own despite being sacked three times, he finishes as Saturday night's quarterback leader.

A week after putting up a ideal passer rating (158.3) in the opener against Philadelphia, Hill led the Packers to a 21-17 come-from-behind win at Washington on Saturday night with a 23-yard touchdown scamper in the fourth quarter. They should build off the momentum they created in the second half, and that may propel them to some more success in the third preseason contest.

The corners will likely get a stronger test next week from a more explosive Denver receiving corps, but the growth of young players like Hawkins, Quinten Rollins and Kevin King has been evident throughout camp. "One of the first things I said when I got in the huddle and was on the field was, 'We're out here to showcase what we can do".

"Defensively in the coverage units we were all over the football tonight", McCarthy said after the game. "Let's make sure we do whatever we can to win'".

Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers looked just fine in his first preseason appearance this summer.

Last night against the Green Bay Packers, Cousins struggled early with ball placement and timing with receivers but rebounded and led the Redskins on an important scoring drive in the final 1:55 of the first half.

"We stuttered and sputtered", coach Jay Gruden said, "and missed a few throws and had a couple runs rejected". Hundley worked the ball down the field with gains of 12, 38, 7, followed up by a 5-yard touchdown pass to Aaron Jones.

Last week against the Baltimore Ravens in the Redskins preseason opener, Cousins and the first team offense looked anemic and went two straight three-and-outs. Injuries sapped his ability to make the plays the way he wanted to, but he was still feared during his entire career. So I was happy with our pass protection. I love him to death, and I think he's very courageous in the position he's in and the things that he says, and I'm very proud to be his brother and to see him make the impact that he does - not just with stances like that, but the work that he does in the community, the type of father that he is. Halfway through the preseason schedule, that has been the case. Still, #Joe Callahan and Taysom Hill are two players that Packers fans can easily root for as camp winds on. Moreau broke up another pass by playing physical and using good leverage. "Being able to touch these kids' lives and ride with different riders each day or one person for the season, it's moving for me, and I think it's a memory they will have forever". If #12 goes down, the Packers might as well kiss their season good bye.

Rodgers finished the night 6 of 8 for 37 yards and had a handful of difference-making plays. The [outside] reaction a year ago?

"Just don't get comfortable".

"Certainly we hoped that we'd get better and grow and mature as personnel guys and managers of men here", Thompson said. Continue to study my plays.

Green Bay converted two subsequent third downs on a short pass from Rodgers to Davante Adams and then a Rodgers scramble. "That's what I'm definitely going to do this year".

While this practice was in place long before big names from around the league like Colin Kaepernick and Michael Bennett began to use the national anthem as a platform to protest racial inequality in the United States, it has taken on a new significance in light of the wave of activism.

"Change doesn't happen overnight".

"It took a little while", Gruden said.
