Rick Astley rocks out with the Foo Fighters in Japan

Foo Fighters are in the middle of the Asian tour.

The Foo Fighters were in Japan this weekend, headlining the Sunday night of the Summersonic Festival.

"Ladies and gentlemen, would you please welcome our new best friend, Rick Astley", Dave Grohl told the crowd. You think you're headed to watch some wonderful video or see some incredible new, exclusive content and boom, Rick Astley is serenading you to the sounds of his 1987 No. 1 hit "Never Gonna Give You Up".

The 80s pop legend, who was also performing at the festival, joined the band for an expletive-riddled rock version of his hit.

"This is f.ing insane", opined Foo Fighters frontman (and former Nirvana drummer) Dave Grohl. "This is f****** insane".

Astley was clearly into the performance, screaming at the crowd and bopping around the stage and addressing the audience (and by extension, all of us) "motherf*ckers". "This is insane. I just met [Astley] two minutes ago".

The on-stage collab is the culmination of a well-documented mutual admiration that both acts have for each other.

It's not the first time "Smells Like Teen Spirit" and "Never Gonna Give You Up" have been mashed up together, and here's hoping it won't be the last.
