Diego Costa Set for Chelsea Exit as Atletico 'Agree' £50million Deal

Although Costa received a text from Conte that he would no longer be needed at the club but the manager also told him to return to the club to train.

The English soccer season started last weekend but Costa is now in his native Brazil, after claiming he was told in a text message sent by Conte during the offseason that he was not wanted at Chelsea anymore.

"I think we are doing very well, I think we worked very hard in pre-season, it was just a bit unfortunate that we had suspended and injured players, some players left, so it's not easy for us in pre-season", he added.

Costa told MC News: "Conte's text?"

Conte reckons Chelsea's title win, when he revived a team which finished 10th in defence of the trophy the previous season, belied the fact that there are underlying issues which must be resolved for long-term success at Chelsea. 'The club is trying its best in the transfer market to improve our squad but I must be happy, ' the Blues boss said.

"When people say, for example, Chelsea lost an important midfield player [Matic], if you lose one but you buy [Tiemoue] Bakayoko and [Danny] Drinkwater for example, what's the problem?"

Chelsea manager Antonio Conte: "Tottenham are a really strong team and they showed to be a great team and I must be pleased for the commitment, the desire, the will to fight for every ball".

Even though we're only in the second week of a new season, there are so many storylines already emerging going into this game, the biggest of which is likely to be what impact the move to Wembley will have on Spurs.

"Of course for the warmth and respect that I earned there, they showed interest, but they wouldn't pay a fortune". He said: "No, I'm not surprised".

"I think they should take into account everything I've done. Holidays are good but it gets tiresome".
