GWENT will have a story mode called Thronebreaker

Thronebreaker puts players in the shoes of Meve, the queen of two Northern Realms who knighted Geralt of Rivia, the protagonist of The Witcher series.

In GWENT Thronebreaker's campaign, players will explore new and never before seen parts of The Witcher world, while embarking "on thought-provoking quests, gather resources, as well as engage in custom-made story battles, which twist the game's rules in wildly unexpected ways".

CDPR also launched a trailer for the Gwent Masters tournament, which it says elevates Gwent to a professional level and gives players the opportunity to become the undisputed best players in the world. "Facing an imminent invasion, she is forced to once again enter the warpath, and sets out on a dark journey of destruction and revenge".

There are three tournament tiers, including the Open tier, the Challenger tier, and the Masters series.

CD Projekt RED announce Thronebreaker, the single-player story campaign for Gwent, as well as the Gwent Masters - the official esports series for The Witcher Card Game.

If you're actually interested in the e-sports aspects of GWENT and want to learn more about the whole thing, you can do so by visiting the official GWENT website. Two finalists will earn a spot in the Gwent Challengers event, with all participants earning Crown Points. There are eight Gwent Open events and four Gwent Challenger events, each of which has its own prize pool.

The Gwent Masters Pro Ladder season will get underway on September 1. Each player must build four decks from four different factions ahead of the tournament during the Pro Season.
