Indians steal one from Red Sox with walk-off error

The Red Sox and Indians will play Game 2 of their four-game series Tuesday night at Progressive Field.

Brandon Guyer led off the ninth inning with a double to left field, but when Roberto Perez laid down a sacrifice bunt to move him over, chaos ensued. He returned to the big leagues last Friday in Kansas City, but his velocity appeared noticeably lower during Monday night's game against the Boston Red Sox. The Red Sox mustered five hits and walked six times with Andrew Benintendi and Hanley both leaving the yard and driving in two.

Catching the Astros would be ideal, but the Red Sox' main course is to keep a healthy distance between themselves and the Indians. Manager John Farrell said Moreland passed concussion tests, but he chose to hold him out of the lineup. Despite the injury woes, Cleveland earned a ninth win from their last 11 games. The sinkerballer won his previous two outings, working 6 1/3 frames of three-run ball versus the Chicago White Sox after limiting Cleveland to two runs over a season-high 7 2/3 innings. Carrasco comes off of a 9-3 win at the Minnesota Twins with a run given up on five hits over five frames.

Adam Jones collected four hits with two home runs (24) to lead the Orioles past the Athletics.

"We kept getting the lead, so I was like OK because I desperately wanted to get our pitching set up because I found out the hard way in Boston when you don't, what can happen". Giving the Indians the 3-2 advantage. The two teams faced off against each other in the American League Division Series (ALDS) previous year, and it was evident some tension remained. He finished 1-for-4 Monday.
