Comey to Give Lecture Series at Howard University

Comey, who was sacked as Federal Bureau of Investigation chief in May, will deliver the convocation keynote address next month to students at Howard University, a historically black university in northwest Washington. Comey will be part of a lecture series in which he will lead five lectures featuring different speakers.

Howard is one of the country's foremost historically black colleges or universities, or HBCUs.

Former FBI Director James Comey has planned a return to Washington, D.C., only this time it will be in the world of academia.

Howard stated that Comey will be donating his entire King chair compensation of $100,000 to a Howard University scholarship fund for students from foster care.

"I am pleased to welcome Mr. Comey to Howard", Howard University President Wayne A.I. Frederick in the statement. "Howard has a longstanding history of being a vibrant academic community and the flawless place to have rich dialogue on numerous most pressing issues we face today", Comey said, in a statement released by the university.

'I am honored to hold the King Chair this school year, ' Comey said in a statement.

'I look forward to contributing to this remarkable institution and engaging students and faculty alike, ' he added. According to Politico, Comey recently accepted the university's short-term job offer when he also agreed to deliver its opening convocation address for new students on September 22nd.

Former FBI Director Comey has tried to keep a low public profile since his surprise firing by President Trump in May. As for his five lecture topics, the ex-FBI director hasn't announced them yet.

The president's decision to fire Comey caused such an uproar that the Justice Department appointed a special counsel, Robert Mueller III, to ensure the investigation would continue.
