Kermit The Frog's New Voice By Matt Vogel Unveiled In Short Video

Disney says the action came after "repeated unacceptable business conduct over a period of many years".

In July, Matt Vogel replaced former puppeteer Steve Whitmire, who had portrayed the character for 27 years. "At the same time, I also have insight into their limitations with respect to how well they know 'The Muppets'".

Vogel will perform Kermit again in two weeks, during the Muppets first ever full-length live show, at the Hollywood Bowl.

EW obtained some quotes from Whitmire, where he expressed his passion for The Muppets. In a blog post, Whitmire claimed he had been blindsided by the news and tried multiple times to remedy the situation.

"Inside and outside the Muppets, Matt is a stand-up guy. that I have been proud to call my brother", Whitmire wrote.

The direction of the character was apparently not in line with original creator, Jim Henson's, vision for Kermit.

Whitmire pleaded his case on many (non-Disney owned) news outlets, claiming he was just trying to stay true to the spirit of Jim Henson and the Muppets, something he claims Disney has not been very successful at since acquiring the brand.

To give you an idea of how much Whitmire did for the team: on Muppets Most Wanted, he played Kermit the Frog, Foo-Foo, Statler, Beaker, Lips, Rizzo the Rat, Link Hogthrob, The Muppet Newsman, Andy Pig and more.

Vogel takes over for Kermit amidst a whirlwind of controversy. His voice sounded nearly just like it always has, with credit to Vogel.
