Day after being relieved from post, Saidai Duraisamy attacks TTV Dhinakaran

Reacting to Dhinakaran's statement, deputy chief minister and unified AIADMK party chief co-ordinator O Panneerselvam said the general council meeting of the party will be conducted as per the schedule and no one could stop it.

Making a direct threat, Dhinakaran said that he has support of many AIADMK MLAs, so it would be better that Palaniswami steps down as Tamil Nadu CM.

The 19 Members of Legislative Assembly of the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) who supported TTV Dinakaran, the sidelined deputy chief received a notice by the Tamil Nadu Speaker for the second time, and was questioned to explain their position by September 5.

Dhinakaran faction's petition seeking to add them as a respondent in the case is seen as a clear attempt to stonewall the efforts by the EPS-OPS camp to get the "Two Leaves" symbol without any hindrance.

According to him, only the now jailed General Secretary VK Sasikala has the power to convene meetings of the general council and executive committee.

He also hoped that those with Dhinakaran would return to the party since they too want the continuance of Amma government.

Dhinakaran also claimed that the meeting convened by the ruling party, purposely to pass a resolution to remove Sasikala from the party.

The Dinakaran faction of the AIADMK on Tuesday filed a caveat before the Election Commission that it should be heard before the poll body takes any decision on any pleas to be submitted by the faction consisting of Panneerselvam and Palanisamy after their recent merger.

Panneerselvam, who was then Chief Minister, resigned his post and rebelled against Sasikala and demanded her and her family's ouster from the party.
