India Thumps Sri Lanka in MS Dhoni's Landmark Match

Mahendra Singh Dhoni will be cynosure of all eyes as he gears up for his 300th ODI with a marauding India ready to tighten the noose around beleaguered Sri Lanka in the penultimate encounter of the five-match series, here on Friday.

After a 168-run win over hosts Sri Lanka in the fourth ODI, skipper Virat Kohli had an interaction session with his deputy Rohit Sharma and the duo had a brief discussion about few things.

Pandey finished on 50 off 42 balls, which included four boundaries, while Dhoni remained undefeated on 49 as India scored 375/5 off their 50 overs, which was their third-highest total against Sri Lanka in ODI history.

This was Kohli's second score over fifty in the ODI series, but first hundred.

On the other hand, Sri Lanka could only manage 207 in reply. Lasith Malinga has been waiting for a while to take his 300th ODI wicket and he achieved it by dismissing the centurion Virat Kohli when he was at 131. Angelo Mathews scored 70.

Malinga was less than impressed with his side's performance, and said: "300th wicket is just a number. Today was about doing things the way we wanted to do and I think it is a very satisfying day".

"The heartbreaking incidents of unruly behaviour we witnessed at Pallakele last Sunday were the last straw for us, and we feel that it will serve this sport we love better if we step down, rather than allow the influence of these dark elements to poison the minds of our people". Young players want to perform well, they're all excited but we haven't been able to come up with our best.

Asked if he would continue to experiment with the playing eleven in the next game, Kohli said: "We've given opportunities to three new guys". It was for the first time in three years and only second from the 16 tosses he has won. He got opportunity in 2008 ODI as a opener in Srilanka when both Sachin Tendulkar and Virendra Sehwag were rested due to injury.
