Atomega is a new multiplayer FPS by the creators of Grow Home

The Newcastle-based developer that brought us Grow Home and Grow Up is making a brand new game which will be available next week. "The more mass you gain, the more your lifeform will evolve along a diverse spectrum from nimble Atom to godlike Omega".

As announced earlier today, Atomega is an online multiplayer FPS title coming exclusively to Steam on September 19. Your task as this block is to run around the arena, collecting other blocks until you grow in size, and keep repeating this to grow more and more. Players take on the role of an Exoform, an "advanced post-biological lifeform" and distant relation to humanity.

Overnight, Ubisoft Reflections announced Atomega, which pits players against each other at the end of time, when reality is rapidly dissolving and "the laws of physics slowly repeal". You compete for mass, firing back at other players to diminish them as you grow, with the victor the one that has accrued the most points. Competing for mass, players engage in a frantic battle for supremacy through intense 10-minute rounds, gathering up to eight players.

Atomega promises to be a "relentlessly competitive experience, an easy to pick-up but hard to master game".

Though in saying that it's an arena shooter, you kind of sell this game short, as there's not quite anything you can compare it to in the genre.
