Gainesville Police selfie goes viral on Facebook

The Sunday night post originally simply read, "Officers Nordman, Hamill and Rengering.part of the night crew getting ready to do some work".

A photo of three Florida police officers is creating quite a stir, and the comments "made our chief blush", the department wrote on Facebook.

One Facebook user wrote: "I feel safer just looking at this picture".

Commenter Robin Lewis quipped: "So if I don't remain silent, will something be held against me? Gainesville Police Department has nothing on us".

For those wondering if they'll ever be able to see more of these officers, the department says, "there WILL be a calendar".

The department reported that the wives of Officers Nordman and Hamill "have also enjoyed knowing how millions of women are going insane over their husbands". Officer Rengering, described as the one "with the awesome hair", is single, but the department jokes he's being placed into "Cougar Prey Protective Care, similar to the witness protection program for his safety".

Officer Rengering is single and, according to the post, has been placed into "Cougar Prey Protective Care". Gainesville Police also requested people not call 911, requesting the trio to respond to their "incident". "There WILL be a calendar". The calenders will be for sale and all funds raised will go to the Hurricane Irma recovery efforts in Florida. This photo of officer Smoak-Prince and her K-9 partner had one person comment, "I guess Gainesville only hires handsome people (and animals)!"

One woman said she was "convinced this police department is fake and this is actually an ad for Magic Mike 3".

Coy about their new-found fandom, Gainesville Police Department replied: 'We are dying with the comments.

"So, Sarasota Police Department evidently has some guys headed out to help with rising floodwaters".
