Huddersfield boss Wagner: We were not good enough

Huddersfield boss Wagner: We were not good enough

He was quoted by the BBC, saying: "If everyone was on it like [defender] Christopher Schindler was today, we would have had a better chance to get a result".

"Maybe the second half was slightly better but our biggest problem was with the ball". We have showed some nerves with the ball. "The manager stressed at half-time that we weren't fearless enough with the ball and that showed".

Speaking after the game Wagner revealed he was disappointed with his teams quality on the ball, saying: " We were not good enough, it was a deserved result, we were second best in nearly every area, maybe the second half we were better.

Wagner added: "Of course, you can always steal a lucky point in football but performance-wise we were not good enough". We had seven or eight players not on it. Five minutes later, a corner fell the way of the Hammers, who made the most out of it. Aaron Cresswell's kick found Ayew, who slotted the ball in.

"It was an unlucky first goal we conceded and the second one was from a set piece but we have to be honest".

The 45-year-old admitted the performance was not enough to have come away with a result but was insistent that his players would learn from it, saying: " West Ham were stronger today, they had more opportunities and we were not good enough.

"We will dust ourselves down and look forward to the game against Leicester on Saturday". This was not good enough and we have to accept this.

After the game, Bilic told Sky Sports: "I am happy for the lads, I am happy for the whole club". "We weren't quite at it today", he said.
