"American Horror Story" actress Billie Lourd stopped by "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" and reminisced about her mother, Carrie Fisher, and grandmother Debbie Reynolds, who died within days of each other late a year ago.

Cult actress spoke to Ellen DeGeneres about the hardships of adjusting to life without her mom and grandmother. Lourd has since been named the sole beneficiary of her mother's estate. He ended up finding Daisy Ridley, who's an incredible actress-so talented! Recounting that day after the shoot when she went back home and her mother told her, "You know, this is really weird that you're comfortable here". But I went in and he ended up giving me this tiny role with a couple lines. The role would give Lourd the opportunity to work alongside her mom in The Force Awakens.

'So it's really hard to know what to say about it because it is just so surreal and impossible to deal with'. I was super excited.

"I'm a big believer of things happening for a reason and I think I ended up on that movie for a reason", Lourd said.

Her mom was impressed with her level of comfort on set, and encouraged her to pursue acting in a real way. The couple was together for approximately eight months, and Lautner was with Lourd during the most hard time in her life.

The fact that Lourd originally auditioned for Rey is definitely interesting. "Like, if you're comfortable here, you should do this". Since that time, she has appeared on the Fox series Scream Queens and will be a featured player in the new season of American Horror Story. Even though she did not get the part, it led to a separate role in the world she was immersed in growing up.

Hailed as the people's princess, Fisher's death means that The Last Jedi will signal her final appearance as Leia Organa - no VFX resurrection in Episode IX, or beyond - and there is perhaps no one who felt that loss more than her beloved daughter, Billie Lourd. If so, it will not only serve as a proper tribute to her mother, but a poignant way to bookend the saga that began with Fisher 40 years ago.
